Happy October! Blimey time flies. I swear it was just last week we were shucking winter boots and now, somehow, it is Autumn again! October is rather quiet this year for me!
I have just started Jane Austen at Home: a biography by Lucy Worsley, as Jane is one of my favourite authors, and I can easily rank at least four of her novels amongst my favourites.
I have decided, however, that I am going to give the blog a bit of a break. I realised recently that I get so caught up in reading new things, and trying to stop myself from being crushed under the weight of my TBR list, I don’t really reread any old favourites… which seems to defeat the point of having said old favourites in the first place. Therefore, as I am also busy knitting so much for Christmas, I am going to let myself just reread some old series and just enjoy knowing the ending. I am aiming to do a few posts over the month, if I do read something new, and maybe a wrap up for the things I’ve read, but I’m taking the focus off the blog for a few weeks.
The first thing on my reread list is Harry Potter. It’s been years since I read the entire series from Mr and Mrs Dursely of number four Privet Drive… to All was well. And it seems a good time to read them as an adult, rather than as a child. I also want to complete my annual reread of Pride and Prejudice, and my personal favourite Persuasion. Also on this list is the Shades of Magic series. I reread A darker shade of magic a few months back and now I want to finish the series again. If I have time, I’d like to reread Six of Crows duology, because in my memory these books are incredible and I want to check the fallibility of my memory of the heist family.
I’m sure there are more I would like to read, but that’s currently totalling 14 books so maybe I shouldn’t add anything else to the list. I’ve already reread the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society this month, and I am fairly certain I fell a little more in love with that book, which I wasn’t sure was possible!
So this isn’t quite a full farewell, I will still be posting, but with even less regularity that recent weeks would have you believe. And a little less New Books 🙂
Happy October! Halloween approaches. Any spooky recommendations? (Because I totally need more to add to my list…)
