It’s been 2018 for a few weeks now. Three, to be exact. I’ve been browsing the upcoming books and trying to see which books I need to complete or continue series that will be coming out this year. I will confess there aren’t many, I tend to be a little late to the party and read an entire series in one go when all the books are released. I lack patience, you see. The books are listed by release date.
Five…Sequels released in 2018
Hero of the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton
Rebel of the Sands Trilogy
The Rebel of the Sands trilogy is a YA fantasy series set in a desert land where demijin have powers and are leading a rebellion against the Sultan. It’s got a kickass female lead who doesn’t suffer fools, a rebellion and it isn’t set in the west. Hero of the fall is the final book in the series after Rebel of the Sands and Traitor to the Throne. I’m curious to find out what happens to the rebellion and the demijin, and hope the series has a kickass ending.
Hero of the Fall is to be released 30th January 2018.
The witch doesn’t burn in this one By Amanda Lovelace
women are some kind of magic series
I’m fairly new to the world of poetry, but I read a few entries in the princess saves herself in this one while standing in Waterstones, and I’m hoping to buy it next payday . So, I am looking forward to the witch doesn’t burn in this one but I want to buy both poetry books and read poems that embolden women and invert the fairytale stereotypes.
the witch doesn’t burn in this one is to be released on 5th April 2018.
Legendary by Stephanie Garber
Caraval was fairly self-contained, and I enjoyed it as an easy-to read, psychedelic fantasy YA fiction despite its romantic predictability. It ends with a Cost to be Incurred. I assume in Legendary, the cost is redeemed, and I admit I am curious as to what the cost is.
Legendary is to be released 31st May 2018.
Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet was one of my top reads for 2017. I absolutely loved the sci-fi community book about the crew of the Wayfarer, a tunnelling ship in deep space. It was thoughtful and the characters were vibrant. It was everything I didn’t know I wanted from a sci-fi book. I have to confess I haven’t read A Small but Common Orbit yet, but that’s set in the same series. The third book is within the same universe but about the first generation of humans born in space after leaving Earth, so I suppose it’s a bit of a prequel. I’m looking forward to it! And the covers are always amazing.
Record of a Spaceborn Few is to be released 26th July 2018.
Vengeful by V.E.Schwab
Vicious book 2
V.E.Schwab is one of my favourite authors now, I follow her on twitter and most of her posts are about the protracted editing process for Vengeful, due to be released in late 2018. I have been holding off reading Vicious until I can read the sequel, because if she causes my heart to sit in my mouth for hundreds of pages, I will have no patience to wait for the conclusion.
Vengeful is to be release in late 2018.
What sequels are you expecting soon? Anything I should be adding to my TBR pile?
